Throughout this course, I’ve learned a lot of new skills that have really helped me improve as a writer. One of the most important things I learned was how to properly cite sources, which is something I had never fully understood before. constructing long and informative writings with a purpose of giving the reader a message. This course has also taught me a new way of writing that I had never done before which was a personal narrative. I learned how to describe my surroundings like how things smelled, felt, or sounded to really bring my story to life.
With each assignment I could feel my writing getting better and more informative, towards the end of this course I found that writing longer pieces wasn’t as intimidating as it used to be, and I actually started to enjoy it.
By applying what I’ve learned from this course I can write assignments faster and more efficiently, leaving time for editing and for peer reviews. Something that I think I’ve worked on ilearning to manage my time. It has been a big improvement for me because now I can focus on polishing my work instead of submitting an unfinished assessment
Peer reviews were a great way for me to get valuable feedback from my classmates. Having another set of eyes review my work made it easier to spot mistakes that I might have overlooked, whether it was something small like a misspelled word or a grammar error. These reviews have helped me learn from the mistakes that I’ve made, also leaving time for editing before turning in the final draft. I can also give feedback to my classmates helping them write their assignments or letting them know what they can work on. This course made me work on the things that i have needed improving on in my writing, for example before taking this course i had no idea on how to properly cite a source article, giving the author proper credibility
Assessments like the position paper have helped me significantly improve my analytical skills. For example, I learned how to find credible sources to support my arguments, using websites like Google Scholar. Google Scholar was very helpful because it provided reliable, academic sources that strengthened my arguments more convincingly.
This class emphasized the importance of constructing a first draft, which the professor explained is a crucial step in writing a strong paper. When I’m struggling to organize my thoughts or develop my ideas, I revisit my first draft. It serves as a reference that I can build on, allowing me to expand my ideas and make my paper more complete and coherent. This way of writing has not only helped me with the position paper but has also given me an idea of how I can apply to future assignments.
The PSA assignment was a group member project. I had 4 total members in my group including myself, the psa assignment has taught me teamwork and group effort. The psa assignment was an informational video where my group chose a topic in which they convince people to stop buying fast fashion, the project focused on raising awareness about the harmful environmental impacts of fast fashion and offered solutions to reduce these effects. This informational video serves as a way to teach people about a solution to stop environmental damage. This class also taught me how to manage group dynamics effectively. Working with others required clear communication, dividing responsibilities fairly, and ensuring that everyone contributed to the project.
